Nottinghamshire County Council’s Trading Standards team has received reports of a trader cold calling residents in the Broxtowe area, offering door and window alarms for sale. In one case, the individual claimed to be representing the Council. Please be aware that staff from Broxtowe Borough Council and Nottinghamshire County Council do not visit homes selling goods or services. Trading Standards advises residents never to purchase items from cold callers. If you do not recognise the person at your door, do not answer your door, say ‘No’ and if they refuse to leave, contact the police. If you are worried about unwanted callers, you can seek advice from the Citizens Advice Consumer Service on 0808 223 1133. Door stickers advising callers that you will not engage with them or buy at the door are available free of charge from Nottinghamshire Trading Standards here: Get a 'no uninvited callers' sign for your door | Nottinghamshire County Council |
